During a bout of illness, Rita decided that she wanted to paint the “Road to Recovery.” Quite often she takes figures of speech literally and assumed that the “Road to Recovery” was an actual road that existed. She wanted to speed her recovery and decided that painting herself walking along this road would help her get better. And it did!
